Why Mahisty?

The central highlands of Madagascar are facing demographic pressure that is leading peasants on the one hand to convert forests and wooded savannas into agricultural plots, using traditional methods such as burning. On the other hand, the need for wood fuel has led to significant deforestation.

Our actions in the field

We are setting up community incubators with 12 grassroots farmers' organizations and 6 community sites. Each community nursery will have a capacity to produce young plants whose species produced are categorized into three types that meet the needs of the project's partner farmers: forest species, fruit species and cash species.
