Why choosing Sofia?
The Sofia region, located in the north-west of Madagascar, has a unique and fragile environment, where mangroves and forests play a crucial role in the ecological balance and well-being of local populations. Les local ethnobotanical knowledge is valuable and not widely broadcast. This rich knowledge must be identified, shared and protected in order to promote a participatory approach and encourage synergy between local knowledge and scientific education.
Our actions in the field
We aim to revitalize the Analalava forests in Madagascar. At the heart of this project is the creation of a seed bank for local forest species, guaranteeing the preservation of their genetic diversity. Communities will be made aware of the importance of these trees and involved in reforestation. Reforestation actors will be encouraged to plant indigenous species, and a showcase project will serve as a model for future initiatives. This collaborative project is a call to action to restore the beauty of Analalava and build a sustainable future for Madagascar.
